Today the forced sterilization of transexual people in sweden finally stopped
(not due to our worthless government though - but due to someone who had the strength to fight for their right to their own body in court AND WIN)
Finally.

I just had a one hour debate with my mother about trans* identities and pronouns - after one hour of crying and missing class we have now concluded that “the oppressor can’t define how the oppressed feels”.
OMG we actually made progress!
(and she also uses the right pronouns and stuff and that’s cool even if it doesn’t include me cause I use neutral pronouns and they are just some strange political statement in my parents world but she said she’ll try?)
(but no really, I’m quite happy about this, I have a wonderful mother and we haven’t been able to have this conversation properly in years - and now we’re seriously making progress!)
(and she really is a wonderful person, this stuff just takes time for her)

Some Bullshit I’ve Seen on Tumblr Lately:
-Trans*women have male privilege because they were born male. (Yes, because trans* women are given so much respect in our society and government.)
-Recognizing trans*women as women and making a space for them in feminism is threatening to cisgender women. (I find this argument akin to “Homosexual marriages devalue heterosexual marriages!” and it’s total bullshit. Cisgender women do not own the term “woman.” Also, since when was feminism “women-only?” Male feminists exist.)
-Trans*women cannot be feminists because they are not cisgender and have not faced the exact same oppression as cisgender women. (Guess what! THEY’VE OFTEN FACED WORSE.)
-Trans*women trying to gain equal rights through the feminist movement are actually using male privilege to bring feminism down. (What. the. fuck.)
Cut it the fuck out, please.
That is all.
this <3 . (ok I’ll stop now, this is the last)

to me, if you’re transphobic and hurtful to those who don’t fall into the binary, you’re not even a feminist
that is not feminism
you can’t battle white cis male supremacy with that kind of hatred and by placing gender constrictions created by white cis males on people and declaring who is “woman” enough.
and if you’re not battling white cis male supremacy, then how are you a feminist?
oh yes

gahhh i dont even know whats going on in life (read: feminism).
i’ve always identified with a lot of radical feminist theory.
i don’t hate trans* people, and I hope I can be an ally to the trans* community. I acknowledge that im probably transphobic, the same way that as a white person, im probably racist. but its something that im trying to deal with and educate myself about.
but seeing all this rad fem hate on tumblr lately has really upset me. why cant we just acknowledge that these people are transphobic? why do we have to take down the whole group? there are great aspects of radical feminism.
i don’t believe there is a collective female experience. i acknowledge i have a lot of power and privilege. i love intersectionality.
i believe a woman is anyone who identifies as a woman. i dont give a shit about whats between your legs.
now people are going to say im not a radical feminist… maybe im not. who the fuck even knows any more.
i guess what im trying to say is, i consider myself to be a radical feminist, and i do not stand by people who are being transphobic, or believe a woman is a person with a uterus. does this mean i am not a radical feminist? does being a radical feminist mean you must hate trans* people? i don’t think so, but that’s what’s people are saying, so maybe im wrong.
i’d like to hear others thoughts on this.
You are a real radical feminist.

I just checked some of my standard trans*blogs and found this new rant about radscum. Can someone please explain what happened?
Radical feminism (wiki); “Radical feminism is a current theoretical perspective within feminism that focuses on the theory of patriarchy as a system of power that organizes society into a complex of relationships based on an assumption that male supremacy[1] oppresses women. Radical feminism aims to challenge and overthrow patriarchy by opposing standard gender roles and oppression of women and calls for a radical reordering of society.”
if a person does not adhere to these principles the person should not be called a radical feminist, right?
Could someone please explain what radscum means and what created the term?
(edit: and this is an honest question. I have no idea, please tell me)

Oh I’ve loved this poem since frank first showed it to me, and now I’ve found it again <3

Forget the images you’ve learned to attach
To words like cock and clit,
Chest and breasts.
Break those words open
Like a paramedic cracking ribs
To pump blood through a failing heart.
Push your hands inside.
Get them messy.
Scratch new definitions on the bones.
Get rid of the old words altogether.
Make up new words.
Call it a click or a ditto.
Call it the sound he makes
When you brush your hand against it through his jeans,
When you can hear his heart knocking on the back of his teeth
And every cell in his body is breathing.
Make the arch of her back a language
Name the hollows of each of her vertebrae
When they catch pools of sweat
Like rainwater in a row of paper cups
Align your teeth with this alphabet of her spine
So every word is weighted with the salt of her.
When you peel layers of clothing from his skin
Do not act as though you are changing dressings on a trauma patient
Even though it’s highly likely that you are.
Do not ask if she’s “had the surgery.”
Do not tell him that the needlepoint bruises on his thighs look like they hurt
If you are being offered a body
That has already been laid upon an altar of surgical steel
A sacrifice to whatever gods govern bodies
That come with some assembly required
Whatever you do,
Do not say that the carefully sculpted landscape
Bordered by rocky ridges of scar tissue
Looks almost natural.
If she offers you breastbone
Aching to carve soft fruit from its branches
Though there may be more tissue in the lining of her bra
Than the flesh that rises to meet it
Let her ripen in your hands.
Imagine if she’d lost those swells to cancer,
Diabetes,
A car accident instead of an accident of genetics
Would you think of her as less a woman then?
Then think of her as no less one now.
If he offers you a thumb-sized sprout of muscle
Reaching toward you when you kiss him
Like it wants to go deep enough inside you
To scratch his name on the bottom of your heart
Hold it as if it can-
In your hand, in your mouth
Inside the nest of your pelvic bones.
Though his skin may hardly do more than brush yours,
You will feel him deeper than you think.
Realize that bodies are only a fraction of who we are
They’re just oddly-shaped vessels for hearts
And honestly, they can barely contain us
We strain at their seams with every breath we take
We are all pulse and sweat,
Tissue and nerve ending
We are programmed to grope and fumble until we get it right.
Bodies have been learning each other forever.
It’s what bodies do.
They are grab bags of parts
And half the fun is figuring out
All the different ways we can fit them together;
All the different uses for hipbones and hands,
Tongues and teeth;
All the ways to car-crash our bodies beautiful.
But we could never forget how to use our hearts
Even if we tried.
That’s the important part.
Don’t worry about the bodies.
They’ve got this.
“you’re either a man or a woman, you can’t change that.”
“It’s universal, like you can’t change your ethnicity, eye color or skin color, it’s like saying Michel Jackson was white because of that he changed his skin color”
Fucking retard, you destroyed the memory of 8 march 2012 for me. Go fuck yourself.
(I’m having serious menstrual cramps so I’m in a REALLY bad mood right now…)

forgot to tell you about this <3
(on the other hand they’ll likely spend another year “processing” and debating anyway)
I don’t know if anyone remembers this video from a while back, but I was checking up on it to see if there had been any progress, and there has been, and thankfully in the right direction.
“UPDATE - February 18 - WE WON !
Today the conservative Christian Democrats - members of the…
for what they do to so many bodies today, for the weddings they break apart, the people they send to die. I wonder how long it will take until they apologize for the hurt in your eyes and the starving woman in the flat whitout right to health care. I wonder how long it will take until they apologize for what they do to this country.
I wonder how long we will wait for that apology until we get enough, until the suffering and silent screams becomes to much for us to bear. Before we take action.
Maybe that day is today, why not?
