This is my cover of Fast Car. I posted this song a long time ago on my first blog ever and I’ve posted it several other places since then, but it’s still one of my favorite songs to listen to and perform. I hope you like it.

My junior year in high school, a friend of mine, who was interested in recording music, asked me to come to his house and play guitar. Days later, I came to his house and played this song.
I decided to name this “Identity”, because I knew who I was back then.
Now, I’m having a bit of an identity crisis. I can’t really define Erica Raye Elder.
( It’s just a case of nostalgia).

I’m so tired of all the music on tumblr being from already established musicians (or just people uploading music by other people in general), when tumblr is a perfect space for us amateurs to be visible and explore our music.
So I’ll make a promise to you. If you upload an audio/a video of you playing any instrument (including song of course) and then send me a message, I will listen to it and give some sort of feedback and reblog if I like it (which I probably will).

A piece of music I recorded with Allen Samuel on violin (me on guitar). It’s an improvisation that came out of thin air - like the best do! We called it ‘Gypsy’.
